A building company led by brothers Amir and Karim Salah, with 28 years of combined experience.
They opened a framing and carpentry business in 2017, working on new builds. The practice evolved into renovations, and today AMKAR designs and builds custom homes and renovations across Sydney and the Hunter.
From the time they were boys watching their grandfathers — both carpenters — come home with stories of the day’s work, Amir and Karim knew they wanted to build.
Practicality and design sit together without cutting corners. It is not a cookie-cutter result. We take on a limited number of projects at any one time, which keeps both directors closely involved, available to clients, and able to protect the quality of the work. Quality over quantity is deliberate.

We are inspired by individuality. Every family lives differently, so no home should be a copy of the one next door. We start with how you live — the light you want in the morning, the way you gather, the space you need to grow — and design and build around it.
We are not interested in repeating what has already been done. Our aim is to help you create something original: a home that fits your lifestyle, built once, and built for you.

Amir handles client liaison, quoting, and the overall direction of each project. He previously worked as a project manager and was more than halfway through an engineering degree before leaving to start the business with his brother. That background keeps the sequence of work clear and decisions structured from the first conversation through to completion.
Director
Karim is the hands-on half of the partnership. He is on site organising trades, materials, and installation, and is not afraid to jump on an excavator himself when it is the most efficient way to resolve an issue. His focus is logistics, practical problem-solving, and keeping the standard of finish consistent as the build progresses.
Both directors remain involved from the first consultation through construction and the first year after handover.
We can work from your plans with your nominated designer and engineer, or provide the full design and documentation team ourselves.

We begin by understanding your needs, how the family lives, and what the finished home should achieve.
We help select or assess a site or existing property, reviewing suitability, contours, flooding, and practical constraints.
Plans can be prepared by our team or coordinated with yours. We manage the Development Application from start to finish.
Both directors remain involved. Frequent milestone completions keep the project moving. High-end finishes, direct problem-solving.
We stay available during the first year after completion for any settling issues or adjustments.
Every home is backed by NSW statutory warranties: six years for major defects, two years for all other work. We arrange Home Building Compensation Fund cover on every eligible project.

Materials are selected for longevity and, wherever practical, recycled or responsibly sourced content. Site waste is reduced through careful ordering and separation for recycling. The aim is a high standard of finish with less unnecessary material use.
